Love Is In the Air + Use Red - SSS Monday Challenge 1/25/16

Simon Says Stamp Challenge for Monday 1/25/16 is. . . .

Love Is In the Air + Use Red!

I got my SSS February card kit and it came with cute little red heart confetti and I recently watched a video on You Tube about doing a see through shaker card. . . . so shaker card it is!

My Card. . . .

I used the red paper that came in the card kit to create a top fold card. I used the white card stock to create my front panel. I then layered some silver sparkle tape from a previous card kit and sheet of Lawn Fawn Let's Polka in the Dark mini heart pattern in Werewolf.

I attached all the layers to the card and then die cut my window. (Side note: It was super hard! I don't know if my Cuttlebug plates are warped or what but the top and bottom of my window didn't want to cut, I had to run it through with a thick piece of watercolor paper under it. Next time I will cut the panel and the card separately.)

So why make a see through  shaker? So you can put something on the inside of the card and be able to see it  from the front! The card kit came with a set of love stickers so I picked one that would fit my frame and positioned it at the top so that it wouldn't be completely covered by the confetti that was going to be in the shaker.

I cut a window frame, once in white for the bottom and once in the Lawn Fawn Let's Polka in the Dark mini heart pattern in Werewolf for the top. Basically what I did was make a little shaker that I added to the front of my card. I cut some clear packaging into two circles with my dies so they would fit my frame. I started with my white frame, layered the clear packaging on top, added two layers of foam adhesive, the one I used was kinda thin so I doubled it up. Put in those cute heart confetti and some silver sequins. I attached my other clear packaging to the back of the Lawn Fawn Frame and then placed that on top of the foam adhesive. Then I attached that over the window, it was really easy to place since I could see through the shaker.

I used a few more of the stickers that came in the kit, hearts and an arrow, and I just love enamel dots so I threw a few of them on there also!

See you next time!

Three Challenges in One! - Turtles Happy Birthday Card

Three Challenges, One Card!

So I had a challenge for a Flickr group,

New Beginnings, basically anything that was new was gonna work.

I had this great NEW stamp from Lawn Fawn, Perfect! Do a little watercolor in the background with this super cute turtle wearing a cute hat holding some balloons, Perfect!

Then I came across this! Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge is. . .

CREATE WITH CRITTERS!

 showcasing Lawn Fawn!!!!!

Then the Lawnscaping challenge was Watercoloring!

http://lawnscaping.blogspot.com/2016/01/lawnscaping-challenge-watercoloring.html

PERFECT!

So I really had no idea how to do the water coloring, I thought it would be easy but I actually ended up making a total of 5 different panels using Tim Holtz Distress ink in Mowed Lawn, Pine Needles and Evergreen Bough and some Perfect Pearl water, cuz I love shimmer! I actually loved the 4th one that I did but then I embossed it and didn't like it so I had to do another one. . . .

Once I got a background that I liked I thought is was kinda flat so I added some light stamping of the birthday present that was part of the stamp in a light green.

I stamped the turtles and hats in Simon Says Stamp Black ink and clear heat embossed. I colored the turtles in with the same Tim Holtz Distress inks I used for the background, using Brushed Corduroy on the shells. I added some white accents with a white Sakura jelly roll pen.

I used Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire on two hats and used yellow, light green and dark green Wink of Stella fine glitter dust pens on the other hat.

I die cut balloons with the Penny Black uplifting die set and used the same colors for the balloons, for the yellow ones I used Tattered Straw and Mustard Seed. I added a little white highlight with a recollections white opaque marker and added a few balloon strings with just regular black thread.

I stamped the sentiment right onto the watercolor with Simon Says Stamp Black ink, the "IT'S YOUR DAY" was from the stamp set that came in the February SSS stamp kit, Hello Beautiful. then I added some glitter enamel dots from Virginia Turtle for some sparkle!

To be honest I wasn't happy with this card until it was complete, I'm glad that I followed it through to the end.

See you next time!

Hello, You're the Apple of my Pie - Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #37

Hello!

So I am obviously very bad at this blogging thing, but I found a challenge that will help me create something every week and give me something to put here! YAY!

I found Flickr!

So I am taking part in the Simon Says Stamp challenge, here is the link for the challenge so you can check it out!

My card. . . . .

Yeah, I'm actually pretty proud of!

I used the Simon Says Stamp white card stock for my card base, a Core'dinations colorcore cardstock sheet in a red color for my background panel, lightly sanded on the edges, and then Simon Says Stamp kraft paper for my top panel. All the Simon Says Stamp paper came in one of the monthly card kits that I got.

I used the painted hello die from Simon Says Stamp, it actually came in the September card kit. I die cut it three time from the red paper then realized that I needed it to be a different color so I cut one more in black. I stacked them up and glued them all together for some dimension then colored it black cuz I really wanted it to be BLACK! Then I coated it with glossy accents, cuz I also wanted it to be shiny!

I used the SSS Apple of My Pie set, it came in the November stamp kit. I stamped and clear heat embossed the "YOU'RE THE APPLE OF MY PIE"

I used some chips that also came in the November card kit and stamped the pie piece in Simon says black  ink and clear heat embossed it as well. Coloring the pie. . . I didn't really know what to do at first, I'm just starting out so don't really have a lot of options. I have Tombow markers but the colors that I had just were not working for me. I recently got 4 sets of the Tim Holtz distress inks so I thought that I would see if I could use them kinda like water colors. I stamped them on an acrylic block and used my Tombow colorless blender pen and it worked perfectly!!!!! I don't know if lots of people already do that, I had never seen it before so I was glad it worked!

I die cut the large red hearts with the Paper Smooches Hearts Die from the same red Core'dinations colorcore cardstock, and used the small heart stamp that is part of  SSS Apple of My Pie set stamped with Color Box Cats Eye Pigment, in Merlot. It matched my red paper perfectly! For a finishing touch I used two small black enamel dots from Virginia Turtle on either side of my sentiment.

Also, there is NO glitter on this card!  Makes me kinda sad but I know I go overboard with wanting to put glitter on everything so I refrained from using any at all! I think that my next card will be a shaker card just to make up for that!

So that is it! This challenge changes every two weeks, I think I have one more that is two weeks long also so that I can do one challenge every week and try to be a little more regular on here!

See you next time!
